A great indie studio is making a sequel to one of my favorite adventures 17 years later, for one simple reason: 'We're not getting any younger, and the world seems to be ending'

Exciting News: Machinarium 2 Announced After Nearly Two Decades!

On a remarkable note for fans of indie gaming, Amanita Design announced the long-awaited sequel, Machinarium 2, igniting excitement among enthusiasts after nearly 17 years since the original game graced the screens. This charming point-and-click adventure, originally celebrated for its captivating wordless narrative centered around two robots, Josef and Berta, will pick up right where the first game left off.

The sequel brings back the beloved characters and portrays their journey after escaping the decaying city. They crash-landed into a secret valley, encountering two distinct robot tribes, each grappling with a diminishing power supply. Players can expect a tandem gameplay feature, allowing them to switch between Josef and Berta to tackle puzzles collaboratively, adding a new layer of strategy to the gameplay.

One of the standout features from the original, the idiosyncratic visual style, returns in Machinarium 2, seemingly elevated with sharper graphics. The game also reintroduces composer Tomáš Dvořák, whose enchanting scores defined the atmosphere of the original title. His contribution to the music ensures a familiar yet refreshed auditory experience. Dvořák mentioned that while creating the new soundtrack, he focused on simplicity and melodic elements to differentiate it from his earlier work, striving to maintain the whimsy that players cherished.

CEO Jakub Dvorský shared his reflections on the timing of the sequel, stating that the current state of the world lent an urgency to revisit the Machinarium universe. He expressed a heartfelt appreciation for the loyal fanbase who patiently awaited this moment, emphasizing the strong emotional bond shared between the creators and their audience.

Though there is no official release date yet, Machinarium 2 is available for wishlisting on platforms like Steam and GOG, stirring enthusiasm for potential future adventures in the quirky and heartfelt world of robots. Existing fans of Amanita Design can relive the magic with previous titles available at discounted prices until mid-October.

Editorial material: The announcement of Machinarium 2 is significant not only for nostalgia but also for representing the enduring impact of indie games in the industry.
